OPEN SOURCE GEOSPATIAL DATABASE FOR NATIONAL MAPS IN ARMENIA

Abstract

19 years ago Armenia was acknowledged as a republic. Since then they have build new fundamentals for surveying and mapping. Starting with deriving a new Geodetic Refence System and creating a geodetic network connected to EUREF89 (GRS80) was followed by creating filebased map datasets from National Maps. Last year a centralized geospatial database was introduced and established at the mapping authority in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
