GEONANTES - AN OPEN SOURCE SDI PLUGED TO ARCGIS SERVER FOR NANTES CITY

Abstract

GeoNantes is the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) of one of the French major city, Nantes Urban Community. Based on major Open Source GeoSpatial components such as Open Layers or MapServer and pluged to ArcGIS Server, GeoNantes offers, not only, a pool of functionnal modules in a web user interface that are used to be found in a Desktop GIS, but also, a rich administration interface that allows the application administrator to customize the application from the metadata catalog to the data edition, passing through filters and alpha-numerical requests. Fully based on OGC spécifications, GeoNantes demonstrates how to combine the best from both closed and Open Souce technologies.
