Title
OPENLAYERS: SOS AND INSPIRE
Abstract
In 2010 a Sensor Observation Service (SOS) client was created in the OpenLayers library, using the recent Vector Layer - Protocol - Format paradigm. This means an SOS Protocol was created to communicate with Sensor Observation Services, and several Formats were created to write out SOS requests and parse their responses. This client is a only a start and is not a fully-fledged SOS client, since it can only read out the latest observations.
In Europe the INSPIRE Directive is having consequences for software packages, and in this respect OpenLayers has been altered to communicate with Web Map Services version 1.3.0 (a.k.a. INSPIRE View Service). Until now, OpenLayers could only communicate with WMS 1.1.X.
This talk will deal with the technical background behind these two developments.
