Title

INTRODUCTION OF THE APPLICATION SOFTWARE SYSTEM "E-COMMUNITY PLATFORM" FOR CIVIC ACTIVITY ENHANCEMENT, USING CMS, SNS AND WEB-GIS - RESEARCH PROJECT ON DISASTER RISK INFORMATION PLATFORM "BOSAI-DRIP"(1) - 

Abstract

"e-Community Platform" is a series of application software system which supporting "Knowledge management" and "Civic collaboration" of the local community, it has been developed by "National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention" (NIED, Japan).

 

Now, the system consists of two following web application software mainly. One is "e-Community Groupware" providing function of "CMS" (Contents Management System) and "SNS" (Social Network Service). The other is "e-Community Map" realizing "Interoperable Web-GIS" powered by FOSS4G.

 

"e-Community Groupware" makes it remarkably easier to manage websites, contents and users, and it brings up cooperative relations between citizens to solve various problems of the community by themselves.

 

In addition "e-Community Map" cooperates with "e-Community Groupware", and it offers a dynamic and flexible environment to local community that can integrate and utilize geospatial information effectively for disaster risk prevention.

 

NIED has released "e-Community Platform" together with “Interoperable geospatial data server” as open source software by the name of "e-Commware", and organized "e-Commware Forum" with developers and users to spread to the world.
