Title

RESEARCH AN EXTEND ACTTIVEX AND PLUG-IN BASED ON OPEN-SOURCE NASA WORLD WIND WITH TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Abstract

Currently, the applications based on open-source NASA World Wind are developed by two modes. One is directly to modify the source codes which will cause compiling errors and codes interaction for there are more than 600 classes and over 28000 lines codes. The user should pay more attentions to maintain the source codes. It is inconvenient to second development and applications. The second modes should custom plug-in as the architecture and interface of world wind. The user can not develop complex applications. In this paper, an extend ActiveX and plug-in based on NASA World Wind is presented and realized. Firstly, the technique architecture and data model of open-source world wind for large volume image and terrain data management and visualization are discussed. Secondly, a three-dimensional visualization ActiveX DigitalGlobe based on open-source world wind is presented and developed to solve the problems of directly development with world wind source codes. A development case with the presented DigitalGlobe is given which shows the presented ActiveX can support application integration with the other database. Thirdly, a plug-in three-dimension visualization platform based on the extend world wind ActiveX DigitalGlobeR is designed and realized. Finally, the typical applications based on the presented extend world wind ActiveX and plug-in such as 3D digital city, multidimensional mineral resources management and fast visualization of LiDAR data show that the proposed extend world wind technique can conveniently realize GIS application with 3D visualization.
