Title

OSSIM - ADVANCED OPEN SOURCE REMOTE SENSING

Abstract

OSSIM provides advanced geo-spatial image processing for remote sensing, photogrammetry, and Geographic Information Systems.  Backed by an active open source software development community, OSSIM solutions have been deployed on a number of critical commercial and government systems.  This presentation will provide an overview of OSSIM capabilities starting with the organization of the libraries, command line tools, and GUI applications in the distribution.  A brief tutorial of remote sensing, map projections, and photogrammetry will be provided supported by visual examples of the OSSIM software.

OSSIM provides advanced functionality for satellite and aerial image processing and mapping.  Rigorous sensor models ingest raster data from sensors and metadata describing the position, orientation, and characteristics of the platform.  The software can accurately map project the data with precision terrain correction.

Tools and applications in the distribution also provide advanced image processing chains, combiners, and advanced geospatial transformations and processing.  OSSIM is used for high volume production, prototyping, and advanced visualization.  An overview of the command line tools, imagelinker prototyping tool, and the ossimplanet 3D visualization application will be shown.
