MOBILE AUGMENTED REALITY USING FOSS
Mobile augmented reality applications such as Layar and Wikitude have the led the way, popularizing augmented reality for both the iPhone and Android platforms. Despite their popularity, developing user authored applications and data require compiling data and code using their closed SDKs which limits their appeal. Recently, open source augmented reality client projects have become available and when paired with current WFS platforms, users can now author their AR experiences in an open and standard way. This presentation discusses the state of the art in mobile augmented reality and will demo a mobile augmented reality application built using components from open source projects.
